Publisher's description - War Extreme 2.0

War Extreme takes the game War (originally featured as part of Stupid AppleScript Games) to the Extreme! It adds idiotic statistics, phenomenal speed, and the ability to crudely benchmark your computer over the minimal feature set of the original.

War Extreme is based on the card game War. The rules are simple:  Each player gets half of a shuffled deck of cards (we use a 54-card deck, which includes two jokers).

For every hand, all players turn over the top card.Whoever has the highest card (aces are high, jokers are higher) takes both cards and puts them on the bottom of the deck. The game ends when one player has the whole deck.  At this point, the other player hangs his or her head in shame and slinks back into the hole he or she crawled out of.

This endgame requirement was quite difficult to program, however it has been done with incredible efficiency. As a result, I would strongly recommend that you put your computer on suicide watch for at least 24 hours after playing a game, as half of your computer may be severely depressed. You can avoid this symptom by keeping War Extreme running at all times; if the loser is allowed to play a new game, there may be a chance for him, her, or it to redeem him, her, or itself.

Anyway, back to the rules. If both players turn up the same ranked card (for example, one player has the 9 of hearts, the other has the 9 of clubs), a war occurs.  Both players place 3 cards face down, and then they compare the 4th card from their deck face up.

The winner takes all the cards, however multiple wars sometimes occur (usually averaging once per game). Wars have the ability to quickly change the tide of the game. If one player doesn`t have enough cards to place 3 face down and 1 face up, then as many are laid face down as possible, leaving one face up. If even after doing this there is still a tie, the winner is the player that is not out of cards.
